Science & Technology Fairs

In 1999, the Foundation began sponsoring District 204's science and technology fairs, which are hosted by each of our high schools for the students of their feeder middle schools.

On Saturday, January 29, 2011 (8-11:30 am), Neuqua Valley High School will host students from Crone, Gregory and Scullen Middle Schools. And on Saturday, February 5, 2011 (8-11:30 am) Waubonsie Valley High School will host students from Fischer, Granger, Hill and Still Middle Schools.

During these special events, the students display their physical and life-science projects, which are judged according to criteria such as presentation, creativity and knowledge of the subject. The judges who evaluate the projects are district and area teachers, scientists and business partners - with the best entries going on to regional and state competitions. After the local judging is completed, the fairs are open to the public.

In addition, there has been a 30-minute Weird Science Show with Lee Marek or Ray Hanus at each site. And the fair at Waubonsie Valley included a planetarium show and high-school physics competitions- bridge testing contests.
