Artist-in-Residence Grants for Staff Members

Information About Applying for an Artist-in-Residence Grant

Dear Prospective Artist-in-Residence Applicant,

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is currently soliciting applications for our Artist-in-Residence program. The program was established to enhance the fine arts education of District 204 students by bringing artists into our schools to work with them over an extended period of time. To date, the Foundation has funded 148 Artist-in-Residence grants totaling about $221,500.

When reviewing the proposals, some criteria used in the selection process include:

  • Number of students working with the artist
  • Cost efficiency or cost-per-student ratio
  • Length of time the students spend with the artist
  • Uniqueness of the experience
  • Is this just a performance or will the artist be working directly with the students?

When establishing your proposed budget, remember to accommodate all of the artist's needs including fees, travel expenses, lodging, meals, etc. The treatment of the artist reflects on the entire district and affects the desire of artists to come to our schools.

Each artist in residence proposal will be submitted on behalf of your school's activity fund and checks will be made payable to the activity fund. Also, please obtain the approval of your building principal before submitting the proposal.

Applications are now available through this Indian Prairie Educational Foundation web site and they are accessible from the District 204 site (via link to Foundation website). If you have any questions, I can be reached at 898-2149 or at sandra.charles@comcast.net. Thank you in advance for your support of the Foundation and for helping us meet our objective of complementing and enhancing the educational opportunities of students in our district.

DEADLINE:April 9, 2010

Sincerely,
Sandra Charles
